At Gallagher Bassett, we're focused on addressing industry-wide talent gaps by growing and investing in our own team. By building a strong pipeline of skilled professionals, we're poised to maintain our ability to help our clients and partners achieve superior outcomes.
The Industry Navigation, Values, Education, Skills, and Training (INVEST) Emerging Talent Program at Gallagher Bassett is a transformative journey designed to cultivate the next generation of claims professionals in the risk and insurance industry. The INVEST Emerging Talent Program offers a unique blend of advanced education, hands-on experience, and guided mentorship.
"We owe it to the industry to bring in and develop the next generation of talent," says Irina Simpson, EVP — Workers' Compensation. "The result is a better experience for claims professionals and those we serve."
The program is designed to ensure INVEST graduates are well prepared to take on advanced roles and responsibilities, paving the way for a dynamic and fulfilling career. Participants navigate the complexities of claims management, uphold strong values of service excellence and professionalism, and gain foundational knowledge in commercial insurance and claims handling principles.
"The INVEST program represents our commitment to tackling the industry's talent shortage head‑on," says Nikki Jackson, head of Learning Strategy and Emerging Talent, North America. "We aren't waiting for the next generation of talent to find insurance — we're meeting them where they are, equipping them with the skills, support, and purpose needed to build long-term careers in our industry."
With structured training modules and real-business exposure, the program follows a progressive learning methodology:
Educate: Participants learn foundational theory.
Sandbox practice: Participants apply their knowledge in a simulated environment.
Demonstrate: Through repetition, participants gain hands-on experience by assisting with simple, straightforward losses.
"What makes INVEST exceptional is that it blends education, practical experience, and purpose," says Jackson. "Our participants don't just learn how to manage claims — they learn how to advocate, communicate, and lead."
The INVEST program offers two distinct pathways to meet incoming talent where they are at, providing a launching pad based on their current skills and experience: the Guidance pathway and the Guardian pathway.
The Guidance Pathway
The Guidance Pathway is Gallagher Bassett's career track designed to expand its workforce reach by creating an accessible, supported entry point into the risk and insurance industry. This program is specifically tailored for individuals with some college, an associate degree, or 2+ years of work experience who demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

We aren't waiting for the next generation of talent to find insurance — we're meeting them where they are, equipping them with the skills, support, and purpose needed to build long-term careers in our industry.

This pathway is ideal for individuals who may not yet meet traditional adjusting role requirements but have the potential and passion to grow into more complex claims or operational functions.
The Guardian Pathway
The Guardian Pathway is Gallagher Bassett's strategic career track for developing talent ready to handle more complex and impactful claim scenarios — from lost-time workers' compensation to general liability and bodily injury. These claims require deeper analysis, critical thinking, and thoughtful communication with stakeholders. This pathway trains individuals to become protectors of clients, claimants, and communities, guiding them through challenging moments with empathy, precision, and professionalism while upholding Gallagher Bassett's integrity. It's designed for recent college graduates who achieved high academic marks while securing their bachelor's or master's degree in fields like business, criminal justice, psychology, or similar disciplines. Candidates also have demonstrated leadership skills by way of sports, clubs, and other organizations
The participants work in a classroom-like environment with a dedicated trainer and access to mentorship for personalized coaching, a virtual community for peer collaboration and support, and digital playbooks filled with theory and practical application.
