Gallagher Bassett has been awarded the Premier's Award for Corporate Social Responsibility at the 2026 South Australian Volunteer Awards, recognising the organisation's meaningful and sustained contribution to the South Australian community. The Government House presented the award during National Volunteer Week, highlighting the impact a for-profit business can make when it puts people, partnerships, and community wellbeing at the centre of its work.

The award was presented by Volunteering SA&NT, in partnership with the South Australian Department of Human Services, to celebrate the individuals and organisations that help make communities across the state stronger, kinder, and more connected. South Australia's volunteer sector contributes an estimated 223 million hours annually, creating around $36 billion in social and economic value.

Shelley Reynolds, General Manager of South Australia and recipient of a 2026 Elite Women in Insurance award, commented on the broader impact of Gallagher Bassett's community contributions beyond claims management:

"This recognition reflects our enduring commitment to supporting local communities. Gallagher Bassett is dedicated to making a genuine difference, both through our core work — providing practical support for people impacted by injury at work — and by building a stronger, more resilient South Australia."

Among its recent community initiatives, Gallagher Bassett's South Australian team has:

  • Delivered donation drives for organisations, including Scruffer Lovers, Purrfect Paws, and Hutt Street Centre.
  • Raised more than $900 through Recycle for a Cause to support Backpack 4 SA Kids and Breakthrough Mental Health Research.
  • Prepared more than 5,200 book packs for Raising Literacy Australia to support children in out-of-home care with comfort, imagination, and connection.

Alongside its local programs, the team has supported national Gallagher Bassett initiatives like the Foodbank partnership. Through this initiative, the team packed 100,000 meals for Australians experiencing food insecurity and funded an additional 55,000 meals for First Nations communities.

The team has also backed the Gentle Bear program, which provides emergency services workers with teddy bears to comfort children in crisis and alleviate post-traumatic stress. Established in partnership with SA Police and now in its 20th year, the program has distributed more than 18,000 bears globally.
