Preferred Provider Program (PPP) Implementation Process

Two Illinois governmental organizations are responsible for the PPP approval process and the development of forms, rules and regulations.

Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) is the organization that is responsible for the review and approval of PPP applications.

Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) is the organization responsible historically for the WC Act and now the development of the new PPP forms as well as the development and implementation of the new Medical Fee Schedule.  The commission also arbitrates disputes.

  • Coventry received approval of their PPP application on 1-4-2012 from the Illinois Department of Insurance.

  • The DOI approval of the Coventry can be found at the following link: Illinois Insurance WCPPP List

  • Coventry is the PPP Administrator for Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. (GB) and for GB clients. Through the GB/Coventry PPP Agreement, GB clients do not have to enter into a PPP Agreement.

  • The final rules and regulations were published March 15th with a retro effective date of March 4th 2013.
