Workers
Whether you have questions about filing a claim, need to upload documents in support of your existing claim, or need to reach out to us about returning to work. You can learn more using our free resources and articles below.
- Submit to employer within 30 days of noticing the injury.
- Complete Part A of the Worker's Injury Claim Form. Sign Section 6, Authority to Release Medical Information and Worker's Declaration.
- Submit a Certificate of Capacity if you've lost time from work because of the injury/incident.
If an employee has sustained an injury or illness at work and requires medical attention or time off, they may be eligible for weekly payments and/or medical and like responses.

When Lodging a Claim
If a worker chooses to make a claim for a work-related injury or illness, they will need to complete the Worker's Injury Claim Form and give it to you to complete the Employer section. You should also follow this process if you receive a Dependent's claim for compensation form. Please visit the WorkSafe Victoria website to find information.
When Liability Is Determined
After you receive a call or letter advising you of the outcome of your claim, take the next steps, depending on the outcome of the claim.
The claim has been accepted:
- Continue to plan for your worker's return to work
- Ensure your worker continues to be paid if they lose income
- Forward any Certificates of Capacity to Gallagher Bassett
- Pay any medical excess
- Comply with your obligations — You are legally obliged to help an injured worker get back to work as soon as safely possible.

The claim has been rejected:
- Your worker may have the claim decision reviewed
- Continue to plan for your worker's return to work
- Your worker can use their accrued leave entitlements
If you wish to dispute the claim decision:
When supporting ongoing claims
- Forward any invoices or receipts for treatment that you receive directly to Gallagher Bassett
- Pay your worker weekly payments for loss of income if they are unable to do their normal work
- Forward any Certificates of Capacity to Gallagher Bassett
- Continue to comply with your return to work obligations
