Gallagher Bassett, a subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSE: AJG), has today announced its acquisition of Winter & Co. Solicitors LLP ("Winter & Co. Solicitors") — a London-based marine law firm with expertise in charterparty and shipping contract disputes.
The boutique firm, which primarily serves protection and indemnity (P&I) clubs, is Gallagher Bassett's second acquisition in the specialty marine law space in 2026, following its acquisition of Mays Brown in May. Together, these transactions reflect Gallagher Bassett's continued investment in expanding its dedicated marine legal solutions capability. It's intended that the Winter & Co. and Mays Brown practices will be brought together to form a combined marine legal practice, subject to all necessary regulatory approvals.
The Winter & Co. Solicitors team, led by Glenn Winter, will join Gallagher Bassett under the direction of Manan Sagar, CEO of Gallagher Bassett Europe, Middle East and Asia. Commenting on how the deal fits into the leading claims management provider's strategy, Sagar said:
